Newlyweds Just Wanna Have Fun

Thursday, Amanda and I were on the radio. It was the "Ignite the Fight: Students for Life on Air" program again. I hosted it. The first half-hour I talked to the leaders of pro-life clubs, Kim Montelone of LSU and Matt McCann of Loyola University New Orleans. The second half Amanda and I talked about the annual conference.

Friday. A good day. I had a good conversation with an amiable pro-choice girl at the LSU Students for Life contact table. While in the Dept. of ISDS later, I created a Facebook event.

You see, newlyweds want to have fun, too. Sometimes people think that newly married couples want to hog each other all the time.

And this is true. We are still honeymooning.

And yet, we crave time with our friends. So to demonstrate this, I created an event on Facebook entitled "Batty Berzerk Bonkers Bizzare Blowing-Yo'-Mind [Zombie] Pwnage". I called it a "game night." The result was Amanda and I plus seven other people doing a mixture of Guitar Hero III, the board game Monopoly, and Halo 3, plus chips/salsa and chocolate chip cookies. If you missed out this time, look for another pwnage event in the near future.

Earlier in the evening, though, I went to the Shipps' house for Zack Mitchell's "Honey Do" party. We had some barbecue and reminisced about old times and how now that he's gettin' married in two weeks, he'll have lots of projects to do that begin with Kristin saying "Honey, do this!" or "Honey, do that!" We also had a special "man" run through the fields...

Saturday, Patrick and Mica showed us the wonders of Tunica Falls, in Mississippi. We hiked several miles through some beautiful forests with ravines and creek beds that dumped over cliffs, creating small waterfalls. If you live in Louisiana, it's not that far away and definitely worth a day trip.

Sunday Amanda and I had a nice, long picnic by the LSU lakes, played soccer, and watched half of a bloody war movie (Black Hawk Down) before going to bed, in the process of which I banged my head on an open closet door and made her think I had a concussion until a medical website assuaged this fallacious fear and we fell asleep to the sound of an air conditioner unit as noisy as the unit in The Brave Little Toaster.
